006 Flakturm

January 2000. After moving back from the USA I spent a good lot of time discovering Vienna. This Flakturm is located in a beautiful baroque park very near to where I live. The Flakturm is a bunker, built in WW2 and always built in pairs close to each other. We have 6 of them, and supposedly it is not possible to remove them. A detonation strong enough to take them down would destroy all glass windows in the area. So they have to rot and fall apart slowly, as monuments of idiotic  and unnecessary warfare.

005 dolls

“dolls” – this pictures satisfies my sense for morbidity.
Taken in October 2000 at the props department of the national theaters.

004 Blue Marlene

Digging WAY into the old stuff. Most of this has never been published or seen by many people, and is some of my most treasured work. Like this one, “Blue Marlene”. Taken some time in the fall of 1999, with my Holga, using Ilford XP2 film. I don’t remember if this is cross-development or some filter. I liked putting colored foil in front of the lens to create a certain mood.
I like this picture, because the closer she comes to the camera, the more transparent she is.
